Can someone explain to me what a fat channel is? How does it differ from individually placing effects on your channel strip I’m new at learn how to mix and master and these is still kind of confusing me
Great video!! Would you happen to have a video for your PC specs? If not, please post a link to the PC parts. I'm always interested in engineers' hardware choices.
I need to make a video about it! I get a lot of questions! I’m a Ryzen user!
Correction: Apple Music offers a maximum of 24-bits/192 kHz. (There’s no point in going above 24-bits/48 kHz though).
Very useful video !! i thing the beard fits you more man
Workin on it! And glad you liked the video!
He actually sounds like he has a mouthful of fangs. Kind of like Tim Curry in that movie Legend with Tom Cruise in the 80’s.
All the people saying this is the best tutorial aint lying. Great job, bro! 👍
This is awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Hope it helps you!
Dumbest shit LP won’t allow you to rearrange the channel mixer!!!!! WTF! Every fn DAW allows you to rearrange. Had tested cause there are some nice features for $200, but finally bought on 11. When I called support about this, dude was blown away you couldn’t just move channels. Apples dumbass markers are worthless. Legit looks like just another wav form, so it gets confusing trying to identify when tracking, you can’t just pinpoint 2 areas. It auto blasts a fresh marker a billion bars away.
Also, I switched to Studio one because the give me a bunch of money.
What is that stand/arm that you are using for the mic? @ProducingInTheBox
The reason why ARA is supported and works really well in S1, and most other DAW's is because Presonus and Celemony (the creators of Melodyne) collaborated on the creation of the ARA technology. Thats why Presonus has great stable support for Melodyne and other pitch plugins in their DAW... The more you know. 🫡
instruments and keyboards in studio one is always a nightmare
Logic + S1 = Cubase. ^^ that says all. I´m a former hardcore S1 user, now back on Cubase 13 and... erm...very happy. Cubase has now all the good stuff that made S1 great! But: Cubase has much more to offer. Cubase has way better inspiring sample content and professional stock plugins, which are on par with Logic. (S1 lags in this areas). Cubase 13 higly recommend, I must say.
I love your logic (no pun intended) for point 1, but I'm still waiting for the major music software developers to accept Linux. Had to start using Windows again just to produce my music :(
I’m a logic guy and I’ve been so since version seven of logic. And I really do like things about Studio one, and I find the macro to be truly the best feature that I can find in studio one, but a lot of of the other things you pointed out I just don’t think they’re necessary Because I’ve been producing for forever. I’ve gotten used to my workflow and logic and ProTools from many years in the studio. This seems like more steps in distractions for me. I find that it works better when it comes to music if you go down the road of less is more, more more than more distractions slow down even though you’re going faster it’s almost like you have adding more steps unnecessarily and that song that took five days could’ve only taken three days instead. Not bashing your thought again I think Studio is phenomenal, but if you’ve already learned something else and you’re really deep in it, I don’t think it’s a great idea to jump around and switch a bunch of times unless you absolutely find something vital in another program. I’ve used cakewalk. I’ve used QBase I’ve used logic pro tools, and Studio. One logic was the best one for me. I really like your videos and I can’t wait to watch more
Yes... Logics workflow in midi composing and producing wayyy better and much faster than in S1. Studio One lags enormously in sample content. S1 onstock plugins are very weak. S1 is a boring lame dog and it´s flat 2D GUI is it's terrible when you're working with a lot of tracks. Logic is way more inspiring in all areas.
Hey! Thanks for this tutorial. Just want to ask if you do gain staging after applying the transient shaper, since there could be a considerable change in volume level after transient. Thanks
Only if it needs it. Most of the time it doesn’t.
Macros plus stream deck is next level. Other DAWs can do it but making and editing macros are easier in S1 IMO.
Love the beared bro
Ayyyyyy thanks!
This lesson will definitely come in handy
Right choice. Logic Pro 11 is a big let down anyway.
@2:40 There is one other DAW that lets you make 'macro's'.. Reaper.
I'm a Studio One perpetual licence holder since V2. I am not angry about the 6.6 update. I was a PreSonus sphere member for a while, but I wasn't using the extra features, and I didn't like the idea of losing the ability to open my song files if I could no longer afford to pay for the subscription. Now, that fear is gone with hybrid. If I were to buy the annual subscription, when it expires, whatever version I was on at the end of the term would still be able to open my files. For now, I will continue with upgrading the perpetual license. It is around the same price as the annual. If a major version is released every 2 years, I am paying around half the price. The only thing I disagree with PreSonus on is the inability to buy a perpetual license on the plugins and virtual instruments. They should at least do that much, though I think to remain competitive, they should continue to offer the major new add-ons and features for free with the perpetual upgrades, especially where other DAWs bundle similar items in their perpetual licenses.
Great stuff, Thank You for sharing!
I used the chord track on a song. It was good but i had some annoyances. Granted, i was still really new at the time. When i added the chords to the chord track for my synth, i could not get them to "stay". I observed you remove the chord from the track and the midi was unaffected. For me, it removed anything that it did. I think maybe i should revisit this.
I was a logic user until 2012. Welcome to Studio One and yes, I'm never going back 👍💯👍
2012? LOL... What do you think Logic has improved after 12 years?? S1 lags in so many ways. Logic has absolutely great inspiring pro advantages.
@@Byron101_ My best friend uses Logic and I know they have improved over the years and still it's not for me because I don't like the work flow and how it's layed out. I never said Logic sucked so I don't understand the LOL. If it works for you, great.
@@Byron101_ Studio One has absolutely great inspiring pro advantages also. My Studio One doesn't lag because I have a computer with 64gigs of Ram and the CPU is an AMD Ryzen 9 5900x and it's fast. :)
Good grief! I've been using Studio One for 11 years and didn't know this stuff. Especially the chord track. I can't wait to use it. Thanks.
Great content -- thank you! I switched to S1 when it was on V4 and continue to be amazed by it's power and intuitive design. It's been a true game changer for me.
Same here! I love it

This is Cool!
LOVE Studio One!
Totally agree, I don't think loops are a problem and ultimately there's a ton of repetition in today's music, so I don't think it's necessary required to exclude them in order to make something great.
best youtube short ive ever seen with under 100 likes
Best UA-cam comment I've seen with under 100 likes
Most of Foster The People's first album is made from default Garage Band loops iirc.
#5 Anything can be anything (almost anyway)
Why would one normalize vocals?
All kinds of reasons. Especially is the vocals have processing baked in.
@@ProducingInTheBox fader (or gain/trim) would do the same, am I missing something?
@@hextobin normalizing just takes the loudest part of the entire audio file and puts it at 0db. So nothing clips. It doesn’t compress or anything. Clip gain does the same thing just over each clip you cut. AND you have control over it!

2:39 - Laughs in Reaper
Look at me learning new things about reaper. Every time I think I’ve reached reapers limits I’m shocked hahaha
@@ProducingInTheBox i don't think reaper has any limits. there are even games that you can play in Reaper.
Le meilleur daw est celui qui VOUS CONVIENT pour votre musique😊 j'en ai testé beaucoup et j'ai eu un coup de coeur pour Studio One ! Tout me convient!
I switched from studio one to Cubase....good luck
Cubase is fantastic. Love that DAW
great choice. So do I. Cubase is way better than S1 now. Cubase has now all the features that has made S1 great. But Cubase has much more to offer. Highly recommend, I must say.
2:40 Reaper has been doing macros for over 15 years as well, and it has the most powerful macro editor I've ever seen, it even has something called cycle actions which S1 doesn't have. 4:02 S1 isn't the only one who does track templates, Reaper does it too, and IMO it does it better because you can turn those templates into a macros in Reaper as well and do a lot more crazier things. Nice video but as someone who've used Reaper and S1, S1 is a great daw and has a lot going on but IMO almost everything you mentioned, Reaper does those as well and in most cases does it much better than S1. I'd say S1 looks a lot better than Reaper out of the box, and it's more intuitive than Reaper, but the flexibility and customization of Reaper is on another level. But at the end of the day they are both great daws and download and try them both and use the one you prefer, it's a good thing to have a choice, and we aren't all stuck to using pro tools 🤣.
Yes I agree, Reaper does everything he showed plus more. Out of the box it doesn't look as polished graphically, but it has alot more features and it is not subscription based etc.
I’ll need to revisit Reaper. It’s such a powerful DAW and I didn’t know about cycle actions or macros! I use my StreamDeck to create cycle actions for macros. I can stack macros together using the StreamDeck. I will say reaper is like windows. Full control, but not super intuitive
Studio one has a subscription option but you can still purchase it straight out of the box
What about exporting with efx on sends? Is it just a simple tick box, logic is bloody pain 😢
Yup! So easy! Logic was rough for that hahaha
@@ProducingInTheBox it still is a pain trying to export with efx sends
Theres actually alot here logic can now do..... I guess its been a long long time since youve actual;ly used it... All good... For me, the stand outs , that dont exist in logic, that would work for my flow, are Macros & X platform.... But alas.... Also working in film scores, im also still stuck with also having to use Protools for deliverables..... ! Go figure... But again... I considering going back to Cubase.... If only Linux was better supported...As for Audio Post.... for small projects , BM's Fairlight im hopping crushes that crown.... and its also supported in Linux! Natively. To Reiterate , All these DAW's are amazing.... Its sometimes the way you need to work, is not the same way as others..
You can tell Presonus is doing it right with Studio One because the rest of the industry tends to regularly and backhandedly diss or ignore Studio One as a player, even mentioning the likes of Cakewalk or Bitwig, completely ignoring S1. For an all around, non-genre specific DAW (ie. EDM > Ableton) there is simply no better product than S1....and that's a fact.
I agree with you
i personally have use both and im happy in cubase 13 pro right now it have all features that studio one have both also all the stock good producing features that logic have. i use studio one only when i want to have a different workflow when im a bit desmotivated. i think cubase 13 pro right now is the best daw however i think studio one have a better future in the daw markat if they take right decissions right now the subcription model was not that good but s1 can be the best daw in the market in a few years. i think studio one have the best workflow of all daws right now they just need better features in my opinion
Cubase is a fantastic DAW. another favorite of mine
@@ProducingInTheBox S1 is like the cubase small son I personally recommend it for beginners over cubase thanks to the easy workflow maybe not that much for producers unless you got allot of virtual instruments but for mixer and recorders is the best. As a Cubase user I always will respect and love a lot studio one
I Love, Love, Love Studio One since v1. But there's a couple of things that I still feel they need to change. First is the way I hear and feel the panning on Studio One. I know we now have three settings to choose from. But I often feel that the panning in Studio One is a little weird comparing it to other daws. The second thing is that every time I compare a mix done in Studio One vs mix done in Pro Tools I feel that the mix in Pro Tools sounds better to my ears. Lastly, I often get audio drop outs when mixing and playing back the project and also when pressing command/s to save the project the music or whole project make a weird sound.
I’m not sure about sounding better in ProTools. Are you using similar plugins? And as far as panning goes they revamped it in version 6 which was cool. Also if you’re having exporting issues try exporting in real-time!
